Dear Families,
We would like to thank our Community Officer, Officer Toni, for spending time with our intermediate students here at Lorna Jackson today. Her work in our community is invaluable and we appreciate the support and guidance she provides for our school.
As some of you may celebrate Halloween, we would like to share some tips from the York Regional Police about keeping families safe:
Avoid trick-or-treating alone by walking in groups or with a trusted adult
Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags or bring a flashlight to help drivers see you
Always WALK not run, from house to house and look both ways before crossing the street
Use established crosswalks and sidewalks wherever possible
Parents should know the route that older children are going to take ahead of time
Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls
Eat only factory-wrapped treats inspected by an adult and avoid eating homemade treats from strangers
Only visit well-lit houses and do not enter a stranger’s home
Never accept rides from anyone you do not know
Carry emergency contact information
Parents and caregivers are reminded to inspect all treats before allowing children to eat them
We wish you all a safe and spooky weekend!
Mrs. Bongard and Ms. Lau
