Welcome to Kindergarten follow up

Tkenko our community,

Thank you to the families who attended our Welcome to Kindergarten event last night. It was wonderful to see many families and their children join us at our school.

If you could not attend, please find the powerpoint shared last night now posted here for your reference.

The following resources may also be helpful for you and your family:

We also have school visits planned for June 17th that we will mail out to your family if you could not attend last night.

Here’s to the exciting road ahead.

Administrative Assistants’ Day

In the fall, I shared some thoughts about the work our School Administrative Assistants do each day at our school. Today, we want to recognize their work again during Administrative Assistants’ Day. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Miceli and Mrs. Fabiano for all the work they do at our school.

Parent and guardian school climate survey

Please see the following information from our board:

School Climate Survey for Parents/Guardians

Between May 20 and June 2, we will be inviting parents/guardians to participate in a school climate survey. The surveys provide the Board and our school with valuable information about how you feel about the school environment and your child’s education. The results will be used to identify areas that need to be addressed, monitor progress and plan strategies to support student achievement and well-being. We value parent input and encourage you to complete the survey. The information parents provide will be anonymous, considered confidential and kept in strict accordance with all relevant legislation. Information about how to access the survey will be sent home with students later in May. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

If you would prefer a paper copy of the survey please let our main office know by April 24, 2014.

Earth Week

Thanks to our Eco Team for this exciting update:

Earth week is next week – already! To help us achieve Eco Schools qualifications, next Tuesday, April 22nd we will be participating in Lights Out. This is where we encourage staff and students to turn out as many lights and turn off as many electronics as possible from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Next Friday, April 25th, we will also be participating in Vaughan’s 20 minute makeover.

A brief mini assembly will take place in the gym starting at 1:45 where Vaughan Councillor Carella will be speaking and kicking off this event. We appreciate the Town of Vaughan’s support with our event. Then from 2-2:30 p.m students will help clean up the neighborhood. Every division will be cleaning a different section.

We look forward to the events occurring next week with the support of our school’s Eco Team.
