New frontiers for new learning

Dear Parents/Guardians:  I am amazed that we are now preparing for the end of 2016—December is already upon us and I have been so very blessed in my first term here at Lorna Jackson P.S. Quickly, I have been made to feel at home and truly have found that LJPS community to be so welcoming and so collaborative. The students, staff and parents have all made my transition to a new school so smooth—this truly has quickly become home for me! I thank you for embracing our many initiatives. We celebrate together and work together on behalf of our students and community. I am so impressed with the initiative that our students show and their desire to be of service to the community—they exemplify the best that our school system has to offer! We have had a very busy start to December—our Vendors’ Market and Santa’s Workshop were well attended and provided great fun for all who came out to support these initiatives. Later this month, our Intermediate students will deliver toys to CHUM CITY WISH and enjoy skating at Nathan Phillips Square – thanks to the generosity of our Volunteers who help cook and serve pasta every week as well as the Rotary Club, that donates all the pasta product to our school. All funds raised by our pasta program directly go back to students in the form of free bussing for school trips. The students and staff are busy preparing for our holiday celebrations.   Our holiday assembly is a wonderful way to celebrate together our significant faith days as well as our diversity.  This speaks to the richness that makes Canada such a wonderful country in which to live. We look forward to seeing you all at our many holiday events.  On Tuesday, December 20, The Rotary Club of Woodbridge and Lorna Jackson P.S. will be hosting our first annual community holiday dinner.  Let’s celebrate the season together!  Seating is limited, due to fire regulations; so if you are interested in coming to celebrate and spread some holiday cheer, please sign up to reserve tickets for your family.  There is a $10.00 per person cost to this dinner ($40.00 for families of 4 or more).  We look forward to seeing you here at school over the coming weeks.                                     Angelina Faraone  Principal
